Nonno Knows Dolcetto

2023

From $34.00 per 750ml

    Description

“Dolcetto” takes its name from the Piemontese hills where it originated that are named, in dialect, Duzzet. A lighter red, with a refreshing undercurrent of acidity and tang. This Dolcetto is bursting in bramble berry and jube fruit flavours with a lush nose of mulberry, violet flowers, juicy blackberry and raspberry jus. The low tannins and low acidity mean this wine is best consumed while young and fresh.

Born in Torino di Sangro, Italy, our Grandfather Domenico Fabrizio grew up with a love for wine as he watched his father make it in their family home. Nonno immigrated to Australia in 1951, a 20 year old man excited for his new life. He brought the passion for winemaking with him and this has flowed through our family’s veins for three generations. This label and the Italian varieties we make are dedicated to our beautiful Nonno.

    • Vintage Notes

Cool vintage with long ripening. Slow dissipation of malic acid to reach optimum fruit maturity.

    • Vineyard Notes

Low yielding, 10 year old vines. Medium sized berries.

    • Winemaking

Harvested in the cool of night to retain fruit flavours. Cool fermentation on skins. Pressed off skins half way through fermentation as the sugar, tannin and alcohol reached optimum balance.

      Rich, soft with long length

    • Food Matches

Home-cooked casual favourites, like eggplant parmigiana, pizza, lasagne, and spaghetti and meatball dishes. Also perfect to temper the heat of a spicy curry.
